    Eco School

The Eco-Schools programme unites young people to make realistic but dynamic change, creating positive impacts for our planet right now. Penshurst Primary School’s Eco Committee follows a simple, seven-step framework that empowers our pupils and staff to make a difference to our school, the local community and beyond. Schools connect their activities to three or more of the Ten Eco-Schools Topics. These topics break large, global issues like climate change into more manageable and directed themes that prompt young people to consider environmental changes that they can make in their school and everyday lives.

The Eco-Schools Green Flag is an internationally recognised award for excellence in environmental action and learning. Penshurst Primary School achieved its first Green Flag award, with Distinction in 2022 and have held onto this for the last three years.

    Modeshift

Modeshift STARS is the Centre of Excellence for the delivery of Effective Travel Plans in Education, Business and Community settings.

The STARS Education scheme recognises schools and other educational establishments that have shown excellence in supporting cycling, walking and other forms of sustainable and active travel.

Launched in 2008, the STARS Education scheme is supported by the Department for Transport and has seen over 1,400 schools in England achieve accreditation since its inception. In the Autumn and Spring of each year, schools, local authorities and key partners come together for the National STARS School Travel Awards which recognise the outstanding schools from each local authority.

Penshurst have been part of Modeshift since 2016 and in that time have received many awards. We are currently Modeshift school of the Local Authority and hold an Outstanding Modeshift Award, these are updated each year.
