Homework

At Penshurst Primary, we believe homework plays an important role in supporting learning beyond the classroom.

It helps consolidate knowledge, raise achievement, and strengthen the partnership between home and school. Homework is designed to be purposeful, age-appropriate, and engaging, with opportunities for parents to be involved in their child’s learning.

For Foundation Stage 2, homework focuses on early sounds, handwriting, and experiences, alongside daily reading for 10 minutes. Activities are shared via Tapestry, and parents are encouraged to contribute photos and comments of home learning. For Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, homework includes regular reading, weekly spellings, and access to interactive platforms such as Numbots, TT Rockstars, and Century for reading, maths, and grammar tasks. Key Stage 2 pupils also take part in the Penshurst Graduate Scheme to deepen knowledge learnt in class. Year 6 pupils receive additional maths and grammar work to support their transition to secondary school.
